Sea Moss
Dried Raw Sea Moss (Eucheuma cottonii) / Seaweed
About: Sea moss is a type of Seaweed. Some of the common types of sea moss are Genus Gracilaria, Chondrus Crispus, Eucheuma spinosum and Eucheuma cottonii. Eucheuma cottonii, which is also referred to as Gold Sea Moss, Caribbean Sea Moss, African Sea Moss and Sea Bird Nest, is a sea moss that's consumed as food in Jamaica, Caribbean Islands, Indonesia and the Philippines. It has also been used in various regions of the world in the making of sea moss gel, beverages, thickeners, deserts, puddings, smoothies, beers, wines and marinades. This sun-dried sea moss is sourced from the Indian Ocean (northern shores of Sri Lanka). One of the key features of sea moss cultivated in this region is that they grow in abundance without the use of fertilisers or chemicals, due to the equatorial climate, making it a wild crafted and organic sea moss. Gold sea moss contains up to 99 of the 102 organic minerals that makes up the human body.
Benefits: Sea moss is rich in enzyme, mineral, calcium, iron, fiber, jelly protein and vitamins A, D, E and K. Thus, raw sea moss and sea moss gel, which is made made after blending the dried sea moss with an aqueous solution, are used as a superfood, a vegan dietary supplement as well as a cosmetic gel. It is popularly used in skincare, as it is a natural and potent source of collagen (sea weed collagen is the same type of collagen present in skin).

Directions: This sea moss isn't pre-washed. Wash the sea moss thoroughly and soak it in clean water (2 part of water to 1 part of sea moss) for about 2 hours until the sea moss extends. After soaking, rinse with cold water before consumption.
Suggested Use: Sea moss can be consumed raw, cooked or it can also be blended with purified water to obtain sea moss gel, which can be kept in a refrigerator for 3-4 weeks (can be kept in the freezer for up to 3 months). Sea moss gel can be used as a dietary supplement or a cosmetic ingredient.
How to make sea moss gel: Add the sea moss to a blender (2 part cleaned & soaked sea moss into 1 part water)-- blend until smooth pudding texture (blend for 30 seconds-2 minutes).
Storage: Dry sea moss (unsoaked and raw) can be stored for up to one year in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. The salt present in the sea moss acts as a natural preservative. Do not store dried sea moss in the fridge, as it is too moist and the salt crystals will not be able to function effectively in protecting and preserving the sea moss.
